Our pillars of being an Anglican, Independent, boys-only school are the living framework through which we educate, form, and love the boys entrusted to us. They are deeply theological and pedagogical in nature, and so we always cherish and guard our identity with reverence and clarity.
As an Anglican school, we are shaped and guided by the Christian faith, expressed through the sacraments, the rhythm of worship, and the values of love, grace, humility, and truth. This foundation informs our ethos, leadership, and educational philosophy. Incidentally, it is also what inspires our desire to be welcoming and inclusive to all. While we welcome boys from all faiths, our foundation is distinctly Christian.
This rhythm of prayer, reflection, and moral formation is not exclusionary; it is an invitation to all families to join us on a journey of shaping compassionate, reflective, and principled young men.
WPPS believes in the unique and vital formation of boys. We are committed to creating an environment tailored to the emotional, physical, and spiritual development of young men. It is part of our mission to raise boys who will become men of honour, service, and courage.
This allows for a curriculum and culture that speaks directly to boyhood in all its dimensions, rough edges and all, while calling each boy into healthy maturity.
Some may wonder why the school continues to emphasise Christian formation so strongly. The answer lies not only in our Anglican foundation, but also in our understanding of what holistic education means in an increasingly complex world. At WPPS, we believe boys flourish when anchored in a clear moral and spiritual framework. Christianity is not just our heritage; it is the lens through which we teach character, courage, compassion, and truth.
However, this emphasis on a singular faith does not mean our boys are isolated from the broader world. On the contrary, through friendships, current affairs, and curriculum content, boys are exposed in age-appropriate ways to other belief systems and worldviews. This exposure is handled with care, ensuring that boys understand difference without being required to practise or internalise it.
Welcome to Wetpups. Although there is a lot that makes us distinctive, we pride ourselves mostly as an Anglican Christian independent school that partners with parents in the formation and growth of their sons. We see our boys as more than just beings who are here to receive an education. We see them as the future husbands, fathers, and leaders of South Africa, and thus, we will look to them to achieve a socially just and sustainable world. Firmly established in our Christian identity, we are called to develop respectful, compassionate, courageous, humble, accountable boys of integrity.
The open and trusting relationships we have with our stakeholders are most commented upon, forged by talented teachers who are dedicated to guiding each boy on this leg of his journey. We also aspire to be a place where academics, the creative arts, sport, and social and emotional learning are pursued with resolve and great determination. Wetpups is a place where these four pillars of excellence are an important part of our commitment to offer a broad and balanced education to every boy.
We love the fact that our boys play, laugh, think critically and creatively, all while learning and growing. Our boys learn as much outside the classroom as they do within it, and I can think of no more inspiring and secure place for them to grow, to reflect on their experiences, and to leave us ready to influence the world.
It is my hope that these few words give you a profound sense of our school, its values and vision, so that you will be encouraged to visit knowing that you will be warmly welcomed.
Our vision and mission guide everything we do at WPPS, from fostering excellence and curiosity to shaping young men who act with respect, accountability, and courage.
