Western Province Preparatory School is an Anglican, independent school for boys. These pillars shape our approach to education and provide a clear, stable framework within which boys are taught, guided, and supported.
Our Anglican foundation informs the values that underpin school life — respect, integrity, compassion, humility, and a sense of responsibility to others. While Christian traditions such as chapel services form part of the rhythm of the school, WPPS warmly welcomes boys from all faiths and backgrounds. Our aim is to be inclusive, respectful, and grounded in values that support strong character and good judgement.
As a boys-only school, WPPS is committed to understanding and responding to the unique needs of boys. We provide an environment designed to support their academic, emotional, physical, and social development, helping them grow in confidence, resilience, and self-discipline. It is part of our mission to raise boys who will become men of honour, service, and courage.
This focus allows us to offer a curriculum and school culture that speaks directly to boyhood — encouraging curiosity, energy, and individuality, while guiding boys towards maturity, responsibility, and respect for others.
While our values are rooted in a Christian tradition, our boys are not sheltered from the wider world. Through the curriculum, discussion, and daily school life, they are introduced to different perspectives and belief systems in thoughtful, age-appropriate ways. This helps boys develop understanding and respect for difference, while remaining grounded in the virtues of our Anglican faith and identity.
The range of sporting facilities and the sports on offer at WPPS are evidence of our holistic approach to education, in which sport is a valuable extension of the classroom, where many lessons are learned.
Boys from Grade 1 upwards are required to take part in at least two afternoons of sport a week. Coaching methods are given most careful consideration. While the expertise and enthusiasm of coaches are important, the principles of good educational practice are always evident on our sports fields.
Finding the right school is essential. Spending time with the students, meeting the staff, and visiting the classes are experiences that will help you make this important decision.
WPPS intake is in Grade N only when boys are 4 turning 5 years old. There are a few places available for boys in Grades 6 and 7 throughout the year because of the class size structure in Senior Prep.
