Fire Incident at Wetpups

On Sunday morning of 12 March, a fire broke out in the Grade 6 classroom block, causing widespread concern. However, a remarkable display of community spirit followed as staff, neighbours, and local schools rallied to offer support and assistance. After that, the Fire Department arrived on the scene and worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other buildings. Thanks to their efforts, no one was hurt or injured in the fire, and the damage was limited to the Grade 6 block.

Despite this setback, the Wetpups community has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from local schools such as Hershel, Wynberg, SACS, and Bishops, who offered help through donations of books and classroom equipment.

While the loss of material possessions is regrettable, the real strength of the Wetpups community lies in its deep sense of belonging and resilience. The fire may have destroyed a physical building but it cannot destroy the bonds that tie us together.

As we begin the process of rebuilding and restoring the Grade 6 block, we are comforted by the knowledge that we have a strong and supportive community behind us. We are confident that we will emerge from this experience even stronger and more united than before.
