Imizamo Yethu’s fire-affected residents 18 March 2017

The recent fires that have devastated the community of Imizamo Yethu, destroying 3500 homes and leaving more than fifteen thousand residents homeless. Disaster risk management officials continue to clear the debris left behind after the fires swept through Mandela Park. The response of the greater Cape Town community has been amazing, stepping in to support those affected in their attempt to rebuild their homes and lives.

Many of the Wetpups families have been actively involved in the relief effort. We sincerely thank those who have given of their time, possessions and money to assist. At times like these, we often feel the need to help, but do not know where we could best contribute.

We would encourage any Wetpups families who feel they would like to contribute to the relief efforts, to please do so through either the GivenGain Foundation (https://twitter.com/GivenGain) or the Thula Thula Hout Bay organisation (http://www.helphoutbay.co.za/). Every contribution will be gratefully received by the community.
